I agree you have to have different people handling different jobs. But the fact is a lot of smart people are doing work that essentially doesn't need that much intelligence and hence end up being under performers. It is like testing math PhDs on standard 5 algebra. It will be hard to figure out who is really better and the one kissing teacher's ass might actually get ahead.

The problem in a lot of cases is that there isn't enough of that work, the one that needs people to be really smart.Deepesh Yadavhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12357363112195738822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550787.post-40611346819630231772010-06-20T13:10:46.850-07:002010-06-20T13:10:46.850-07:00@wanderer - lets see what changes you do, will be ...@wanderer - lets see what changes you do, will be curious to see them :)Deepesh Yadavhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12357363112195738822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550787.post-81501585609635007022010-05-11T03:44:15.695-07:002010-05-11T03:44:15.695-07:00This seems to be a bit biased in favor of hardwork...This seems to be a bit biased in favor of hardworking people. Sadly the over abundance of such people in software industry is the sole reason people have to work more than 8 hrs a day.

In our industry it is essential that we hire both kinds of people (hardworking and smart) but we need to give them different kinds of tasks.

It does not happen that way in reality and therefore even the smart ones have to work their ass off clean the mess created by the laborious people. I think all technical fields except software industry value talent more than labor.

In my view being hardworking or smart is not the issue, more important is to be intellectually honest.Paramanandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03855838138519730072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550787.post-41119399441479704652010-05-10T07:59:30.054-07:002010-05-10T07:59:30.054-07:00Wonderful analysis!!! I think the theory applies to people who have been smart and generally out performed others at exams and studies which kinda makes them arrogant.

And on the note of expectation, I would expect you to know better, given your prior experience with the kind :)Deepesh Yadavhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12357363112195738822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550787.post-13913057449810586372010-03-29T10:31:49.729-07:002010-03-29T10:31:49.729-07:00DY,

Most of the time I end up with the 6 point someones in my team and have a really hard time....
